great looking frame from MC - puts them back up at the top - its just a bit of a letdown theres no cable stops for a front mech or ISCG mounts!

well the wheels are £150 and the chainset £150 - so think of the rest of the parts as free!

just have to wait and see - the cranks, Middleburn RS7's, are getting ball burnished at the mo as they had been plastic coated. A mate tried to get it off with a sandbalster and a glass blaster, but it didnt touch it.
Other fishing bits are a middle burn 32t ring, a sram chain and some spd's.

BB is a little high as its an old frame (early 90's - either 92 or 93 at a guess), so it was designed for either rigids or very short travel forks. I wanted to retain all the kit if the frame rode like a piece of poo, so the forks are the 44.5cm version (eq 100mm travel).

Thanks, needs a new rear tyrethough, as the 2.3 conti is slightly to wide. It is £35 i didnt want to spend. I now have all the bits, just waiting for the cranks to be cleaned up - turned out that they had been plastic dipped - sandblasting and glassblasting just made the plastic go furry!
There off to be bead blasted today.

that does seem like a silly place to thread a cable on a carbon bike!! - if your average joe sets up the front mech a couple of mm out of line the cable will start to cut into the carbon when changing gear.

yeah - no brakes at the mo - needs a new rear cable - but its a fixed wheel anyways.

will do - the rs7 cranks are being polished this week and i have an XTR rear hub on Mavic X517 on the way. The bb is gonna be a little high as the forks are a bit to long for the frame, but it will slacken teh geometry a little so i'll see how it rides then deal with it (either shorter forks - or, gulp, new frame).
Tyres will be conti speedking semisonics (less than 500g each) or some lightweight sepcialied i have spare (semi slicks). Only the ss kit, front chain ring and front wheel to go!

Total cost of build so far is less than £300 (inc rear wheel).

Well its being built on a tightish budget it was £9.99 and was best value per gram - plus i need a 110mm as the top tube on the frame (being so old) is quite short. i may go carbon in the future or get another Thomson x4.
Next to go on will be the bars (easton's carbon EX90's SL), and i'm gonna get a 27.2 Thomson layback seatpost over the weekend, saddle i still have from my mountain cycle.

Yeah, even my 1st proper mtb ( a 1993 rockhopper fs)had front suspention, although they did brake after about a year and i went rigid for a year or two - havent riden rigid since (except for the fixie). TBH they'll proberly be a stop gap for some 80mm forks (so as not to mess with the old school geo).
